The Miraculous Medal, also known as the Medal of the Immaculate Conception, originated from the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary to St. Catherine Labouré in Paris in 1830.

The medal bears the image of Our Lady with her arms extended, distributing graces symbolized by rays of light. Surrounding her is the invocation:

“O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.”

The reverse traditionally features the letter M surmounted by a cross, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and twelve stars representing the Apostles.
